When you want to go for a run, the Metroplex is home to several great trails where you can lace up your running shoes. These local running trails feature everything from pretty wildflowers to scenic lake views. The best paths near our Irving apartments include:
A favorite among airplane enthusiasts, the 3.1 mile Bachman Lake Trail sits near Love Field Airport. On the lake's southern bank, you'll enjoy an up-close look at the planes as they take off and land. Along the way, you may also see ducks, geese, and rowing on the lake.
Offering skyline views, the Trinity Forest Trail runs from Lemmon Lake to the Trinity Audubon Center. Mainly paved, it provides several options, whether you want a short workout or are training for long-distance races. The full loop spans 6.4 miles, while shorter sections stretch 1.75 and 2.5 miles, respectively.
Boasting a natural habitat of 600 acres, the Cedar Ridge Preserve Trail offers an adventure unlike any other. The preserve comes complete with wildflowers, native trees, and butterfly gardens. Its nine miles of trails range from easy to difficult, providing a workout for all athletic abilities. Cedar Ridge welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to dusk.
Nestled in nearby Grapevine, the Northshore Trail is one of the most popular paths in North Texas. Stretching over 20 miles, it features easy to moderately difficult terrain. Runners come for the long trails. Many take advantage of the Northshore Double, which offers a rare ultra-marathon distance in the heart of DFW.
